“The euthanasia of even one animal that could have had a positive outcome is one too many.”

Janet Testerman, CEO of Young Williams Animal Center

They have saved 8,311 animals last year (2018). Of that number, 5,772 animals adopted. 1,102 went to rescue groups.

Young Williams Animal Center achieves 'no-kill' status - YWAC is local to East Tennessee area serving the Knox County area. This is a huge milestone for pet centers.

“No-kill” means the center saved more than 90% of the animals that came through their doors. That is not an easy task. Young Williams doesn’t turn away any of its animals.

Of course, there is a lot of work ahead of them to keep this status. It is estimated they have around 10,000 animals come into their shelter per year.

Young-Williams Animal Center began in January 2001.
