Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials have issued permission allowing a temporary, single-lane closure on the Spur to accommodate roadwork near the park boundary. Work crews will implement the single-lane closure on the north end of the northbound Spur on Sunday, July 28 and Monday, July 29, 2019, from 7:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. each night.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park recently benefited from the hard work of eight Girl Scouts who completed 80 hours of service in the park rehabilitating trails, cleaning campgrounds, removing invasive plant species, and providing educational programs to visitors. Sinkhole closes state Route 375 in Grainger County according to Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT). The Sink hole opened up near LM-14. Geotechnical engineers were on the way to the site.

New Massive 50 Acre Waterpark, Soaky Mountain Waterpark is coming to Sevierville - Wilderness Resorts and Waterparks ownership group today announced that they will be building a new attraction in the Smoky Mountain region called Soaky Mountain Waterpark.
Searchers in Great Smoky Mountain National Park found the remains of an unidentified human body after being notified of the remains by an off-trail hiker. The remains were found in an off-trail area of the park off of Laurel Creek Road and appear to be several months old. The cause of death is under investigation. No further information is available at this time.
